林奏延日前率團參加WHA，清晨返台，上午11時30分在行政院舉行記者會表示，代表團和美國、日本等多國進行45場雙邊會談。
以美國而言，他說，美國國家衛生研究院正在發展登革熱疫苗，這次在WHA雙邊會談中，美國衛生部長承諾將於下個月派員到台灣，討論適用老年人的登革熱疫苗臨床試驗。
林奏延表示，有別東南亞地區登革熱重症多是年輕族群，台灣登革熱重症多發生在慢性病、老年族群，但目前國內僅有的登革熱疫苗，臨床試驗上僅對小孩子到29歲年輕族群療效較佳，希望藉美國新疫苗緩解登革熱疫情。
此外，他說，「茲卡病毒」是這次WHA大會共同語言，引發各國議論，美國雖然無茲卡病毒本土病例，但出現性行為傳染個案，美方擔心短期內造成流行，將於9月起投入茲卡疫苗研發。
至於和日本雙邊會談中，雙方對台灣八仙塵爆、日本熊本地震時的關心協助互相表達感謝，也針對長期照護、老人等議題交換意見。1050527
