蔡總統今天上午在總統府內接見「亞洲社會研究院」（Asia Society Policy Institute）副總裁柯特勒（Wendy Cutler）及「美國全國商會」（U.S. Chamberof Commerce）資深副總裁奧弗比（Tami Overby）。
蔡總統致詞時表示，柯特勒過去在美國貿易代表署（USTR）服務近30年，任內督導跨太平洋夥伴協定（TPP）談判、主談美韓自由貿易協定（KORUS），也曾經擔任臺美貿易暨投資架構協定（TIFA）會議的主談人，是各國推崇的經貿專家。
蔡總統指出，奧弗比也長期於經貿領域服務，在擔任「美國全國商會」副總裁期間，曾經協調督促美國國會通過美韓自由貿易協定，目前持續在「美商界推動TPP聯盟」（U.S. Coalition for TPP）扮演重要角色，推動美國國會通過TPP。
談及台灣在參與區域經濟整合的努力，蔡總統表示，參與TPP對台灣相當重要，除有助於促進台灣國內經濟結構的改革，同時提升台灣長期經濟競爭力，因此，加入TPP也成為政府當前重要的工作項目之一。
蔡總統表示，為加速台灣參與區域經濟整合的腳步，政府將持續推動國內經貿自由化，進行法規落差檢視和調整，讓台灣能與國際接軌，加強競爭力，對外則努力爭取TPP會員國支持，希望台灣能順利加入TPP第二輪談判。
